Exploring Textiles Course

Using a mixture of fabrics, yarns, mixed textiles and household materials, this workshop encourages participants to explore textiles by combining the traditional with the unconventional and develop an innovative approach to making.
This workshop is aimed at those interested in exploring surface and texture. All levels welcome!
Places are limited to 6 participants to ensure maximum learning.

Students will learn a variety of processes including stenciling, basic dye techniques, layering and fabric manipulation as well as a variety of hand and machine stitching.
Fiona Harrington is an award winning lace-maker and textile artist. Fiona graduated with a degree in Fine Art from Crawford, Cork and Textile Design from NCAD. She has also trained with Kenmare Lace and Design Centre learning traditional Irish lace techniques including Carrickmacross and Kenmare Needlepoint. She received a number of prestigious awards including the Thomas Dammann Bursary, the RDS Graduate Prize and the Eleanor De La Branchardiere Award for innovation in Lace Design.

Please note: Due to the running costs of workshops, refunds for all our courses can only be given if sufficient notice is given and we can secure a replacement participant. We are a small organisation and course materials and equipment are expensive! We will however offer you a place on a future course of equal value. We are also understanding and under exceptional circumstances we may be able to refund part or full cost of the course.
